life with logan:-)

Just a quick update... I was sitting here with Logan tonight and got to thinking about what a wonderful little miracle Tom and I have... And wanted to share some thoughts!

These are just a few of my thoughts/facts about my sweet little (almost!) 3 month old boy....

1. He has the most beautiful smile in the world! He can light up a room, and can most certainly make the worst of days the best.

2. He has acid reflux. Yuck! It has it's ups and downs, good days and bad, but overall, I think Logan deals with it very well. Now, don't get me wrong, he does get fussy! But his good days out number his bad by far.

3. This little man "gives good face". Look at the eye brows and that look! His facial expressions are hilarious! I wonder where he gets that from...
4. He is the cutest GINGER baby I have ever seen! ( Sorry, Teresa!)

5. When he talks, listen up people! It's entertaining to listen to him coo and giggle. It's almost like he's really talking and he's got a lot to say! And sometimes, he'll shake his head like he understands what you are saying to him!

6. He isn't sleeping thru the night yet, but is sleeping about 5 to 6 hours. I am completely convinced that he only wakes up around 3 A.M to see his mommy. He misses me so much in the middle of the night, he's just got to get another good look at me...that and he wants to eat another 4-5 ounces:-)

7. He is not a big fan of his car seat or car rides. Oh my, oh my... He is not a happy camper when you put him in to go somewhere. So crazy to me, because I am almost sure putting me in the car seat and taking me for a ride was exactly how my parents put me to sleep when I was a baby!

8. He loves sticking his whole hand in his mouth... It is the silliest thing I have ever seen and I wish I had a picture to show. And wow, does this kid drool! He is a mess!
9. I can not even begin to tell you how much I love this little boy. It is almost indescribable! But I can tell you that when I see him, my heart just melts and I love him a little more everyday.

2009 was a crazy year and brought about a lot of good things. But nothing can top the birth of Logan Thomas. It has changed our lives, but all for the good! I can't imagine what could make this life better. I am definitely blessed, beyond what I deserve.

And for that, I am truly grateful.

i heart cosa

Logan got to take his first road trip on February 12. We went down to San Antonio to visit some of my family. Tom had to work so my mom joined us for the trip! Which worked out great.. She kept him company in the back seat since he's not a real big fan of riding in the car!

This is at El Chaparral. Don't let the smile fool you, though. He doesn't enjoy his car seat either! He would rather sit at the table with you and join in the conversation.
He got loved on by everyone this weekend!! Aunt Pam calmed him down after the car ride to the house. And she watched him while Nicole, Tiffany and I went and got pedicures! Thanks, Aunt Pam!!
This picture makes me laugh...He makes the silliest faces! And he loves his hands!
This is BAM (Brandon), Nicole's son. This is the only picture I could get him to sit still for! I still don't know how I did it.
Brody, Tiffany's son. Those 2 boys are so stinking cute ! I had such a good time just watching them play around the house. I can't wait until Logan is big enough to play too!
This is take 1 of the cousins and kids photo... we couldn't get Brandon to sit still and Brody just wanted to watch Yo Gabba Gabba on TV. And well Logan, ya can't really control what he does!
Take 2. I could not stop laughing...Brody kept getting angry because Uncle Mark was standing in front of the TV and blocking his show!! And Brandon, well, he's just being himself:-) And Logan is probably looking at the fan...it mesmerizes him!
Take 3. I love this one! This is life for us now... Crazy how we've all grown up. I can remember us being little and running around Maw Maw and Paw Paw's house and our parents chasing after us. Now it's us doing the chasing!
This is my grandmother, Big G. She was so surprised that we came to town! I am glad we got to spend some time with her. And Logan enjoyed her too! She sang to him in Polish and he giggled and smiled at her. It was so cute!
Again, I can't believe this is my life. I have a beautiful little boy, and a wonderful little family.

And this life may not be perfect, but it's mine. And I feel so lucky to have it!

walking in a winter wonder-what??!!

Let me just start by saying this...

I have never, ever seen this much snow in Texas. I thought for a second that we were in Iowa. It was light and fluffy, and so beautiful!! And it was so great, we even got a snow day!

This is the snow man that Tom and I built. Well, Tom built it..I stood out in the cold and watched and assisted...kind of:-)

We got 12 inches of snow total...It started snowing sometime in the early morning and didn't stop until the next morning.

It was so beautiful! But in the end, I was actually glad to see it go. I can only take so much snow and being inside...

This past week the weather was beautiful- in the 50's and sunny.

Only in Texas, my friends. Only in Texas.

Happy 2 Months, Logan Thomas!

Wow, I can't believe it.. 2 months ago, we were celebrating the birth of the most amazing little boy on this planet! He has been the biggest blessing and so far, my biggest accomplishment in life:-) I cannot even begin to say how much I love him! Here are some pictures from the past few days...

He weighs in at 12 lbs 5 oz and is at a whopping 24 inches! He was so good at the doctor today..that is, until the nurse stuck him with 3 needles! But I am not sure who cried more...me or Logan!

This is right before bath time.. He loves the bath now! This picture is one of my favorites. He has started to see himself in the mirror and his facial expressions crack me up!

2 months old and such a big boy!!

Out of all of the pictures though, this one is the best. That smiling, happy little monster is ours and we are so in love with that sweet little face!

He makes my day so much better just to see him smile, laugh and coo. It's almost like he wants to talk! I cannot get over how big he has gotten and how much he has developed!

Here's to you, LT. Happy 2 months, my little monster. Mommy and Daddy love you!

yeah, they call me the fireman..

A little late on this one, but better late than never!

On December 25, 2009, a lieutenant put in his last 24 hours as a member of the Arlington Fire Department. He started on the job in October of 1978. A move from the city of San Antonio for he and his wife meant a fresh start at a growing department. He worked at various stations all over the city, but put in most of his career at Station 3.

Thru the blood, sweat, and tears he made good friends, lost loved ones, and made memories that he will keep and cherish his whole life. (And hopefully pass on to his grandson one day!) This job is a hard one, but it was his and he was good at what he did. There are so many stories that I have heard about his leadership and job personality that make me proud to be his daughter.

Dad, I am so happy for you and your retirement. I am going to miss stopping by the fire station every shift you worked. That place was your home, but you also made it mine and made me feel so welcome every time I was there. I appreciate everything you have taught me from your life experiences. I just hope I can do the same for my son.

Happy Retirement, Dad. We love you!

The best crew around! Station 3 C shift.
FF Guy Moore, AO Gary Hall, Lt Curtis Dunn

His new "job".. Paw Paw daycare!!

We are so proud of you Dad!!

Paw Paw and Logan before retirement.

Thanks for all of the memories.

we're the 3 best friends that anyone could have......

It's hard to believe that picture was taken in December of 2005. My, how things have changed since then! This was taken at Disney World, days before my 23rd birthday on one of the last family vacations we took. And I must say, it was probably the best family vacation that we've ever had! Funny how Disney World is better now that we are older...

I was uploading some pictures today and got to looking at my iPhoto library and found some pictures that I hadn't seen in a while...Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum being one of them! I also got to thinking about my sister. She left for school today and while I acted pretty nonchalant about her leaving, I most definitely am missing her. It's crazy how things can change as you grow up.. T and I are almost 6 years apart so growing up, whew, it was rough...for both of us. We fought and fought, and I don't know how my parents put up with us sometimes!

I think my senior year of college is when we finally started getting along. She was about 16 and I started to see just how cool my little sister really was. We started to hang out more, and the more we were together, the more I realized that we were almost the same person... Not to mention the fact that we look A LOT alike!

Nowadays, it feels like we are inseparable. And every time she leaves to go back to Canyon, I try to put on my big girl pants and not be sad. I am glad she chose to go away for college and live away from home and do her own thing though. In a way, I am jealous because I never did leave...and still haven't! But that's where she and I are different. I am forever Arlington, I loved being at UTA and staying a "hometown kid"... But she is destined for so much more. She's got big dreams about being in sports broadcasting, and I hope they come true. She deserves it.

I just hope she doesn't forget us when she's on the sidelines of a big baseball game!

Having a sister is like having a best friend you can't get rid of. You know whatever you do, they'll still be there. ~Amy Li

I am so lucky to have my sister as my best friend.

Even more than that....

Logan is lucky to have an aunt like you, T.

No matter where you go in life, we'll always be here. We love you, T:-)

...........and we'll never ever ever ever ever leave each other:-)

the best part of waking up...

So it was the first day back to school today... first day back for students and teachers, and my first day back after having Logan. I prepared myself last night by getting everything I needed to take to work with me all put together on the kitchen table. I put all of Logan's things for Paw Paw & Patty Cake's daycare on the chair in the living room with his car seat. I made my lunch. Physically, I was ready to go. Mentally on the other hand, not so much. Which brings me to this morning....

Long story short, I turned my alarm off in my sleep. My first day back to work and I wake up at 7:14 when we are supposed to be at work around 7:15. Awesome. I shot up, spit out a few curse words, and ran around the house like a mad woman! I got to school around 7:40 and rushed out to the weight room where our volleyball girls were already lifting. Let me just say that I am so thankful for Andrea because she covers my tail all the time! I am so lucky to work with such a good friend. It's great to have someone you can lean on and they can lean back, too:-)

As for Mr. Logan today...

First day at Paw Paw and Patty Cake's Daycare... Looks like it went well:-) We are so lucky that mom and dad have offered their services!
Teresa hasn't gone back to school yet so for this week she is playing babysitter during the day. Logan loves being around his Aunt T. They nap well together:-) I am not sure who sleeps harder though!

Well, it is dinner time and then bath time for Logan. All in all, minus this morning of course, the first day back went well. It was nice to be back!

As for the best part of waking up, it is definitely my new Keuring coffee maker:-) If you don't have one, I highly suggest getting one!!

-Heather:-)
